Engle - Nancy Davenport

Mrs. Nancy A. Davenport was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, Jan. 10, 1826, and departed this life at her home in Lizton, Dec. 31, 1901, aged seventy five years, eleven months and twenty one days. She came to this county when a child and was married in 1840 to Ewal Engle, who departed this life, Nov. 18, 1893.

To this union was born seventeen children, nine of whom mourn the loss of their mother, namely Ewal  and William, of Crawfordsville, John, of New Ross, Talton, of Salem, George of Fayette, Newton, Mrs. Huldah Smith and Mrs. Elizabeth Davenport, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Rose Harrington, of Lizton. She united with the Baptist Church at Ladoga, about forty years ago and has lived a faithful Christian ever since. The funeral was conducted at her home by Rev. Barter. Interment was at Harshbarger Cemetery near Ladoga. - s

Nancy A. Engle, of Lizton, died on December 31, 1901. The deceased was 75 years of age and the mother of 17 children, seven daughters and ten sons. Interment was at Harshbarger Cemetery near here. -s
